Isro plans USD 2.4 billion report for manned mission to space
Come 2016 and India will join space faring nations like US and Russia in putting into space a manned mission. Two astronauts will travel for the week long mission in a low earth orbit.
"We are planning a human space flight in 2016 with two astronauts who will spend seven days in the earth's lower orbit," ISRO chairman K Radhakrishnan said on the sidelines of launch of the book Moon Mission: Exploring the Moon with Chandrayaan-1 authored by S K Das, former member of department of space.
A pre-project report for the mission estimated to cost about $2.4 billion is being prepared by the space agency currently.
